Active Release Techniques® in Norman OK
In addition to the joint mobilization offered by your chiropractic adjustments, we provide soft tissue work at Excel Chiropractic to address the muscles, ligaments, and tendons that allow those joints to move.
What Is It?
ART is a patented system of soft tissue care. It’s designed to help us locate and resolve soft tissue conditions such as sprains/strains, chronic pain, chronic inflammation, repetitive stress injuries, etc. It’s a powerful adjunct to chiropractic care: your chiropractic adjustments help remove joint restrictions, while ART is focused on the soft tissues that allow those joints to move. This combination of joint manipulation and soft tissue care helps to speed up your healing process and recovery.
Offering this type of soft tissue work greatly expands the types of conditions we can help. Athletes and anyone who has to perform repetitive motions are typically ideal candidates for ART.
If your job requires you to repetitively perform the same activity repeatedly, day after day, your soft tissues will suffer the consequences. The same applies to athletes who perform the same motion, such as throwing or swinging a club or racquet.
Based on your consultation with Dr. Adams and our in-depth examination, we will create a customized care plan to address your overall condition. If ART can help, Dr. Adams will explain how.
Your soft tissue sessions will be about 10-15 minutes. Dr. Adams will use his hands to evaluate your muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and nerves for texture, movement, and tightness. He’ll then address any areas of tension using patented techniques. The process is gentle and comfortable.
